Car shut off while driving

Please help. I just bought this car. it has always had a strong gas smell, poor gas mileage, it will shut off if car goes under half a tank of gas. When i fill it up it will not start unless i pump the gas, it then runs rough briefly but seems to correct. Recently while driving my engine light came on and was beeping and flashing causing car to run rough and lose power. I then blew my oil cooler gasket. I just replaced it. I was driving and car just stalled and would ont turn back over. I ran the code which read cylinder one misfire. I had a compression test done which showed 10 psi on cylinder one. I was told to cut my losses and scrap the vehicle. please help. I have put so much into this vehicle i cannot just throw it away as it is my only means of transportation for me and my children.
