Car cranks but will not start

My car was working fine, but the next day it just cranks but will not start. According to the person I bought the car from changed the fuel pump about twelve months ago. Thank you for your help.

It sounds like the crankshaft angle sensor has gone out, but to be sure can you check the ignition system for spark?
