Okay, so i have been working on the power steering for a while now and disconnected my battery for quite some time now. I went out and worked on it again got through went to connect it so I can lock my truck and soon as the positive touches the battery my alarm starts screaming until I disconnect it. google said check both the car and key fob battery both are good but it's still doing it. what else can cause this out the blue and what can stop it now? there's no after market products on my truck all factory or is it from being torn apart and disconnected so long?

Hi,

I need you to try something. Disconnect the battery and then connect the positive terminal first and then the ground. The manual indicates that is the procedure. See if that makes a difference. Also, see pic below.

Let me know if that takes care of it.

Joe

See pic.

That's how I always disconnect then reconnect switches is why i'm puzzled by the alarm issue. Because I changed my fob battery tested and fully charged the car battery all after it was not doing it when I last disconnected it to try and fix another issue. i'm trying to fix with the assistance of you guys. then when I went out the next day to work on my truck and plugged it up to open my trunk that only opens by a push button and it started blasting off. so I have been trying anything I'm told since there's no fuse for the alarm ether.

Hi,

First, let me know if this has an intelligent key or not so I know for sure where to start looking. Also, try this.

Disconnect the battery. Using something like a zip tie, connect the two cables together and let it sit for approximately 10 minutes. That will drain any power stored in capacitors. Then try reconnecting it.

Let me know.

It's a push button start and won't start if the key fobs not in the car, it has a key that only opens the driver door. I changed its battery also. okay, I will try the suggestion. do you mean I need to let the 2 cables touch for 10 minutes or keep apart?

Hi,

The cables need to touch (not connected to the battery). Disconnect both the neg and positive battery cables from the battery and tie them together. It's a theory at this point, but there could be a capacitor that is holding enough power to prevent things from resetting.

Let me know.

Okay, so I set a timer for 10 minutes, set them together as close as I could by tightening g the zip tie and it still sets off the alarm when reconnected and my manual has nothing in it about alarm or security that I can find. any other thoughts or suggestions or how can I just disable it?
