I'm changing out the seal on my crankshaft?

It sounds like you are replacing the front crankshaft main seal? You will need to remove the harmonic balancer to do the job and there is a special tool to bolt in place of the starter motor to hold the crankshaft while removing the center bolt for the balancer. here is how in the images below.
