Car has been leaking tran fluid. I took the car to a mechanic and mechanic Said pan is fine and not dmg but said gasket is leaking. He had a hatd time naming gasket and told me its part number tos18669 . Told me he has to drop tran to reach it and looking at 500 for labor. Can I replace it without dropping tran?

The side cover faces the frame of the car when you try to remove it it hits the frame.Sometimes you can drop the subframe down and tilt it out.Its still a big job.

I would never add stop leak to a transmission. Also smearing silicone on the outside of the gasket isn't going to stop the leak.
