I recently replaced the head gasket in my kids' car. I locked down the timing chain and camshafts so no issue there. When I removed the bolts holding the camshafts to the timing chain sprockets, I didn't mark the positions of the sensor (not sure what to call them) rotors that come loose when you pull the bolts. The car is running, but very weak and rough. I need to be told how to reset those rotors.

Good morning,

There is a relearn for the cam sensor once it is replaced.

Did you perform this procedure? I attached it at the bottom for you to view.

I was not sure if you meant the cam sensor exciter rings so I attached a picture of them for you as well.

I appreciate the fast response. Yes, the gray items in the 3rd picture are what I'm asking about. I didn't know what they were called. Now, to be clear, I didn't replace the sensors, so would a relearn be necessary? I need to know how those rings need to be positioned, if I put number one piston at TDC? Thank you.

When you set the chain to its position, did the cam marks align as in the picture?

You will have to take it down again and bring it to top dead center, then take some pictures and post them for me.

Is it possible to get a picture of the front of the gears?

I want to see the orientation of the gears.

Follow this procedure.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I had to package the instructions. It would not print them here, sorry.

If you remove the big nuts and that housing, the plates are there.
