There are a few different versions of the 2.0 used in the Forte. VIN KNA,
VIN3KP with subs of VIN 7 with multipoint injection or VIN 8 with direct injection.
The Forte 5 door and the Forte Koup made in Canada. All different versions, Which one are you working on? Don't want to give you the wrong info.

OK, this is the pattern for that cradle. The bolts get torqued in stages until you reach 10 lbft. on the M6 bolts and 16 lbft. on the M8 bolts. They don't specify the stages just "Torque in multiple passes" My SOP is to verify the cradle is in place then go just snug to be sure that the cradle is in position. Then go to half and then final in the last step.
You can see the bolt positions in the diagram.

Those don't really have a torque spec. They are supposed to hold the cradle in place during factory assembly. So 10-16 should be fine.

Okay I have to stop I went under the vehicle to check the jack and found a steel ball bearing about the size of a BB laying under. I had done a valve job and have the head already own and torque them was going to put the cam carrier on and cams then I found this steel ball bearing would you happen to know where that might have came from?

OK, you had the head off and the timing components off. The only internal item I can think of that uses a small bearing is a lash adjuster check ball. Or one of the external items that uses a ball bearing, like a tensioner or idler. What other work was done?

I did bust the rocker arm taking the head off one of them I noticed the roller pin bearings fell out and I ordered a new rocker arm I took the lifter out of the old one that busted and put it in the new one that I ordered. That might have been where that ball came from that busted rocker arm when I took the lifter out of the old rocker arm and put it in the new one that little steel ball may have come from it. I got to reading and it said that the rocker arms have two steel balls in them plus the little needle bearings I'm hoping that's what it is cuz I sure don't want to take that head back off. It jumped time when it did it messed up for valves so I had a valve job done on it timing chain and phasers all the necessary gaskets to seal it back up. I hope it don't jump again when I'm trying to get the oil system primed cuz I noticed the tensioner is a hydraulic tensioner. timing chain jump time before and somebody else put a timing kit in it two weeks later it jumped again now it's me trying to get it back right they had put a cheap timing chain kit from Amazon or Ebay and the new chain they put on is longer than the original so I'm trying to get this mess straightened out and it's costing a fortune. The XO lady's car I wish I'd never started but I did and I got to finish. You know how it is when you go behind somebody that screwed something up

Don't suppose you have the broken rocker or a picture of it? I would say it came from one of the broken parts and just fell there. Like I said earlier there are not a lot of that style part in there so if you had a lifter and that you replaced that is likely where it came from. I would fill it with oil and see what it does. If it did come from a rocker it will be obvious as soon as it starts. That is a common failure on that design of lifter, happens in the GM, Chryslers and Fords as well as Kia and Hyundai that use the small roller rockers under the cam.

The rocker arm has a roller wheel on it it busted and the needle bearings came out of it I went out and had a look at the rocker arm and nothing else was broke but that little wheel. I pushed down on each lifter. And they were all solid I mean I could not push any of them down. I will go out tomorrow and pull them all out and expect each one individually I don't know what else to do all I find out is that there are three places in the head that a ball bearings were pressed in from the factory I can inspect them also and I don't know what else to do. But I think them three balls are bigger more like a quarter inch in diameter do you know of anywhere else a small bearing like that would be pressed in because all my components are intact and no bearing could come out of them it's either a lifter or somewhere else a little silver ball bearing was put in as a check valve somewhere

Maybe the chain tensioner oil passageway because I blew off the top of my block and it popped the tensioner piston out could they possibly be a check valve in that oil passageway

I don't know how to find where the steel ball came from I will check my lifters and make sure they're all okay and then if they are is it safe for me to finish. You can put the Cam's back in and set the timing put the timing cover on fit it with all and just see what happens I mean what would you suggest I do

Should be an open hole with a spring up inside the bore, which it looks like it has. I doubt it is any of the gallery plugs, they are normally in there real good and then the bore gets peened so they cannot get out. I would fill it, prime it and continue on.

The problem is that tracking it down means taking it all apart and looking at every part. That is your call. But none of the pieces that you have checked had anything like that so far. None of the pieces I looked at in the parts listing has a ball like that in it. What surface are you working on? Concrete? clean shop floor? Look at the tools you used as well. Extensions and ratchets have locking balls in them. What color is it? Is it hardened steel? I would expect any type of check ball to have a retainer and spring or something that holds them in so where is that part? Take a look at the other pieces that you removed as well. Maybe it's something from one of the other external parts.

No strings or retaining clips and I don't believe it just fell out of gallery somewhere I'm just going to put it back together and watch the oil pressure when I prime it if it holds then I will assume it's okay I'm working on a concrete shop floor and there was no object like that laying there when I started where it comes from I don't know. So it will install cam carrier and cams set the timing put everything back together and hope for the best

Yeah, that is the fun thing of finding pieces. BB sized pieces would seem to be bearings but from where is the hard part.

I don't feel good about it what choice have I got dismantle everything and still not find it. Put everything back together and pay strict attention to oil pressure. I'll leave the plugs out of it take the fuel pump fuse out and see if I can get it to hold oil pressure by turning the engine over not letting it fire. If the oil pressure light goes out and holds oil pressure I'll put the plugs back in it fuse and start it up if you have any other idea or how I can do this safely without ruining the engine let me know

That's the problem, without an idea of where the piece came from there is no way to know if it's a problem. I looked at the parts breakdown for that engine in service info and don't find any loose ball type parts.
