I have the vehicle listed above with The Platinum trim. The other day I needed a jump-start. I wound up buying a new battery. The old one was the original one installed at the factory in 2015! After the battery was installed, I didn't immediately check the camera on the front screen until an hour later. Turns out the camera is blacked out and the radio has no sound. All the other buttons, though, besides the camera, illuminate and are active, such as the Menu. You can toggle through the various screens in the menu, for example. But once you press camera, none of the other "buttons" illuminate or are functional.

I checked all the fuses today and they are fine. At the same time, we tried the "secret menu" (Radio off, hold Menu button while spinning the volume knob). Once in the secret menu, an online video said to touch the upper, left-hand arrow to do a factory reset. [There were only two clickable menu items, which I didn't touch, as the video was only about doing a factory reset.] When we did that, after a few moments, the camera was activated! But once we touched Menu, then returned to camera, it was blacked out again. While driving home, we put the vehicle into reverse and the rear camera mysteriously activated - momentarily.

Additional Information: The Platinum trim has a sunroof. I park it under a tree. I had been using a cover for it, but I guess not religiously. I get a lot of rain where I live. Right now, very little. But about 5 months ago, I had some water dripping in on the front passenger side. I had the sunroof drain cleared, but I didn't dry out/replace part of the carpet fast enough. So, around that time, after having had the drain cleared, I started the vehicle one day and noticed an odd mark on the screen. When I turned the heater on high, the mark disappeared. That problem hasn't re-occurred in the past 4 months. Is it possible some of the connectors behind the screen got corroded from the high levels of humidity at the time?

It sounds like the around view monitor control unit had a voltage surge when the new battery was installed or when the car was jump started which happens. I would replace the around view monitor control unit to fix the problem, but to be sure you should do a CAN scan which is easy. You can get a CAN scanner (Controller Area Network) from Amazon for about $36.00.

Here is a video to show you how:

and

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/can-scan-controller-area-network-easy

Amazon CAN scanner link for about $35.00.

I have included how to change the around view monitor control unit out in the images below.

SIDE RADAR

Removal and Installation

REMOVAL

1.Remove the rear bumper fascia. Refer to "Removal and Installation" See: Rear Bumper > Removal and Replacement > Removal and Installation.
2.Disconnect the harness connector from the side radar.
3.Remove the nuts and remove the side radar.

INSTALLATION

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

Here are the wiring diagrams for the cameras so you can see how the system works. Check out the images (below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.

This "around view monitor control unit", is it completely located in the rear bumper? [I was thinking the head unit was bad, (where the screen is located)! I'll have it checked with that CAN as soon as possible.] Do you know how much those avm control units' cost, approximately? Thank you very much!

This link places the unit behind the glovebox in the Rogue. It also makes reference to the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle is in El Salvador, so I'm trying to resolve the problem with the help of a local that speaks Spanish. https://www.nirogue.com/system_description-1569.html

Looking at it the image I provided is for the side radar, the main unit is interrogated with the screen module. I don't have a price on this unit, but I would see if there was a used one available on Ebay. Let me know what happens.

When a voltage surge occurs like this, are there instances where a connector could be damaged or some other less-costly issue in your experience - rather than needing to replace the entire Around View Monitor Control unit? I'm still waiting to have a CAN connected to the vehicle.

You can try a hard reboot which is done by removing the negative side of the battery, with the cable loose from the negative side of the battery, hold it to the positive terminal for 1 minute this will discharge the memory capacitors in the BCM and PCM allowing the system to reboot, or just leave the battery disconnected overnight may work as well.

I tried this approach a few days ago but it didn't work.

1) Make sure the car is turned off; then pop the hood.
2) Disconnect your battery.
3)Turn your car on and press the horn or turn the headlights on to drain the leftover energy.
4)Turn the car back off.
5) Reconnect the battery.

When I find a mechanic, we'll try your suggestion. Thanks for your help.

Will do. The local Nissan dealership has an affiliated service center near where I live. I'm going to stop by tomorrow to see if they can connect a CAN scanner to the vehicle.

Thanks for your input. We replaced the head unit with a used one and swapped out our good screen on to the unit. The camera and radio are working now.

Just thought I'd mention that a dashboard light illuminated after changing the camera monitor. I couldn't leave the car so will take it back to the mechanic next week. He said he'll fix the problem at no charge. The monitor is functioning great.

I have a screenshot of the scanner. It shows the code is under BCM and is B2198-00 AMPL ANTENA NATS. Is the fix as simple as going into the scanner and shutting off the light on the dashboard?
