Cam position sensor removal

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com To answer your question, yes it can be replaced. It really is not too bad of a job. Here are the directions for removal. Additionally, I have attached pictures which correlate with these directions to help you find locations and identify components.

Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
Disconnect electrical connector at sensor (1).
Remove mounting bolt (2).
Remove the exhaust cam sensor (3).

CAUTION:
Install camshaft position (CMP) sensor utilizing twisting motion. Make sure CMP sensor is fully seated. Do not drive CMP sensor into the bore with mounting screw. This may cause CMP sensor to be incorrectly seated causing a faulty signal or no signal at all.
Lubricate sensor O-ring.
Install the exhaust cam sensor (3) and mounting bolt (2) and tighten to the proper See: Ignition SystemSpecifications (Torque Specifications).
Connect electrical connector (1) to the camshaft position sensor.
Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector to the negative battery cable.
