cam position sensor

I recently change my head gasket had no problem with starting or going just had oil mix into coolant tank. when i change the head gasket started getting code for cam sensor. I replace the sensor still had the problem i check all wires to and from and timing is right on. it had started ran for while before the code reappeared. The other thing i can think to do is change the exhaust cam so order GM cam and redid the work. I have not finish that yet but question is can aluminum head become polarized to cause the sensor to malfunction?If you can give suggestion i will welcome it of coarse I did have the head shaved and new valves and lifters.

Did you use the camshaft locking tools when you set the timing up? There is no guide pin on the camshaft sprockets. Using the sprocket mark's the timing may look good but the camshaft itself can be misaligned.

As you may know when you mill the head all has to be removed the cams and all so in this case the cam lock device could not be applied. However the advice you offer good information and your response is appreciated if you have any further information please share. however you did not answer one question can aluminum head become depolarized to cause the sensor to malfunction?

The answer is no. Especially since you already replaced the sensor. And when you assembled the head back in order to install the timing belt correctly you would need to lock the camshaft in place to install the gears correctly.

You may want to try an auto parts store to see if they have the camshaft lock tool they can rent you just so that you can verify the camshaft is correctly aligned. I have seen it many times and doesnt hurt to check.
