Have you had the Wheels checked for Ballance and Wear?

road force rated ok, in addition to the dealer swapping out two complete sets of tires and wheels from newer cadillacs with the same size wheels

the tires and wheels were road force checked- ok to addition to swapping two complete sets from new cadillacs with same size wheels prior to the work mentioned ..... the shimmy in the steering wheel,seat and entire car continues

Does the engine light come on?

Does it have the Road Sensing System, Electronic Suspension Control?

If the engine light has come on have you had codes read? or was the code for the suspension?

If was for suspension has it been check out for proper operation.


If haven't had codes read would do so. May lead to problem.

Has anyone check the steering rack?

And I am not sure but I think there is a pressure switch that could possibly the problem.

Sorry cannot check to make sure, my computer just crashed and I don't have access to my Mitchell1. So I will be asking for other techs to input here to help get this diagnosed and fixed for you.

just to clarify one point, this vibration is felt in the steering or is it a body vibration with little steering vibration? if it is more prominent as body vibration the rear wheels and suspension will be worth checking as well..

When faced with a problem like this, it is always a good idea to sit back and think about what is happening, a vibration is a rotating force out of balance or a loose component moving, also it is a critical mistake to presume that something is ok just because it was replaced, as this has baffled learned minds for some time, i feel it is time to start from the beginning and re check all past work as something well may have been missed, i know this is a pain, but its better than throwing good money after bad chasing something that has been over looked or presumed to be ok.

I will leave obxautomedic to work this through with you bit will also add my thoughts as i follow the progress,

Mark, That is great insight and so true. I came across something as I was researching this and found that the STS is susceptible to a vibration the originates form the rear control arms. Looks like everything up front was replaced lol....Sorry gsmolnar93.. can't imagine how our industry gets a bad rep. .anyways... I also agree that new does not mean good. Not sure in your neck of the woods, but too many alternater and starter rebuilds can be unbelievable. I Came across a technical service bullitin that pertains to vibration. The manufacturer puts these out to help determine a problem or identify a common scenario etc.. Did the dealer fill one out?

IF they did I would like to know the results. (They probably didn't and frankly they aren't paid to diagnose. That is, they are not given the time needed to diagnose and reluctantly may suggest a replacement on little information.) IF not, like Mark says, We need to start at the beginning. There are way too many parts that were replaced on this without better testing. My guess this wasn't used and I can't say I would have right away. What I suggest is to first ask about the sheet, if not, ask if they used "Chassis ears" to diagnosis this. IF not, we should to do this. Were both front axles replaed? Just my $.02.
