This started just the other day. I have a 98 cadillac seville STS with 228000 miles. When I put the car into reverse to back out, when I touch the brakes, the FRONT brakes chatter/grind and then lock up and leave rubber on the concrete. (The rear brakes dont seem to be affected). As soon as I shift into drive, the front calipers unlock and everything works normal with no abnormalities noted. Even taking the tach to 2000 rpm wont budge the car. The car has 4 wheel disk brakes, there is no fluid leaking, I replaced the pads two months ago with no anomolies. Two weeks after replacing the pads two months ago, I found one of the self-adjusting rear calipers to have bound tightened and bound up. Resetting that caliper corrected that. I dont know if the two experiences are related nor can I tell if the ABS system is involved or the tranny/differential is involved. Please advise.
