Shakes or Wobbles problem
1996 Cadillac STS V8 Front Wheel Drive 150,00 miles

I have a 1996 Cadillac STS with 150,000 miles on it. I have started having a humming noise come from the front left tire. When I'm hard on the gas there is no sound and everything seems fine. When I let off the gas I can hear a humming sound coming from the front left side. If I turn to the left the sound is gone but to the right it gets pretty loud. I don't have any lights telling me anything is wrong. It doesn't come from braking and I've had the tires rotated/balanced and still the same thing. It is front wheel drive so I am worried about the transmission but I would imagine if it was that I would've had something telling me plus it shifts fine and no jurking. Just wanted to see if you could give me some insight. I plan on taking it in but just wanted some knowledge before I do. Thanks

Sounds symptomatic of a wheel bearing. The sound will come and go when turning due to side loading on the bearing. Better put, if you have a scored bearing race on one side, turning one direction will put most of the load on it, while turning the other direction will take the load off. If you are certain it is left side, replace the left front wheel hub/bearing.
