1993 Cadillac STS wiring harness

tell me what color the wires are and i'll try to figure out what sensor it plugs into.

hopefully knowing that will solve the problem.

It goes down to the steering gear for the magnetic actuator. The clip goes on one of the steering gear transfer tubes(small fittings). That will not give you a no spark condition, but will give you a traction control light. Look down around the steering gear stub shaft and you should see the mating connector.

but i'm showing the colors to be white and brown.
maybe the white wire is stained over the years.

well you helped me with the wire, I still have no spark and am wondering which items to check for voltage and which order to check them.

Did it run prior to the head bolt repair? The causes for no spark can be multiple, especially since the vehicle has had major service work. Do you have four connectors present on the ignition module. Are all the grounds attached. Did a terminal get damaged. If the vehicle ran before the repairs, then the problem was created, and normal diagnostic flow may not apply. For a starter, press off and warmer on the climate panel together, until a segment check, and then codes start displaying. We are concerned if there are any ecm codes(E0XX, P0XX). Lets see if there are any to give us direction. I don't have any 93 info at home where I do most of my corresponding, turnaround time may be couple days if on a weekend.

yes it did run. I know it is something that happened during removal and re-install. I have 4 grounds on block. the main ground and 3 others. I finally made sure the crankshaft position sensors were in since they were a pain to get to (removed front mount to troubleshoot them. I have power to one wire going to one of the four connector plugs going to coil pack (two of the plugs are small and two are wider, the power is to the one small plug that has 3 actual wires in it, the other only has 2 wires in it.

I just checked codes and everything looked like history or current but pcm had ? behind it

What were the pcm codes? After it goes through all the code display, it will display PCM?, waiting on your next move.

what do I go when the last display that shows pcm ?

Push fan up, it should either say pcm codes, or pcm clear codes. If it says 'PCM CODES' press fan up and document all codes it displays, and whether current or history. If it says 'PCM clear codes', push fan down until it says PCM codes and reference previous sentence. It should go through display of all codes when diagnostics are entered. Now let me ask you this, is this a 93 engine that has been put in a newer vehicle? The reason I ask is, in 93 I thought it was considered and termed an ECM.

Somehow you got it in powertrain data(PD), which is possible if you select it. Just push off, and warmer, and read the codes as it displays. We want pcm codes, that should be the first to run after the segment check. Don't push any other buttons except off, and warmer. Read and report all the codes if you would like.

I will tell you this much, the P015(open ect), and P032(open map), are two concerns. They will not get a no spark condition to my knowledge. Looking at the PD info you sent, your coolant temp reads -40(pd04), your intake air temp reads -38(pd05), and your throttle position -13.9(pd01). These are all indicative of open circuit. My guess is your lacking the 5V reference from the PCM. You can verify by checking for 5 volts on the yellow wire at the ECT connector, the gray wires at the MAP and TP sensors, and the tan wire at the IAT sensor. You could also have an open ground, but I wouldn't think you would have any PCM data at all, I am not positive. You have two fuses for power to the PCM, both are underhood, fuse B13, and fuse A9, both 10 amp. Check these fuses for power on both sides. The PCM ground is G102, it is on the lower portion of the engine block, by the trans extension housing at the RH axle. Make sure it is tight, and that the wrong bolt wasn't used(too long) and bottomed out before the ground got tight. Also make sure that all three PCM connectors are fully installed. Fuse A9 is probably fine, because your IGN 1 value(pd15) is 11.9 volts. There is also a connector involved that, if disconnected, will drop your 5V. It is C225, I cannot find a location on ALLDATA, but it should be near the PCM inside the vehicle. Just look for any connections not made at this point.

Well I checked voltage and found 10v not 5v on the ect, map, tp, and iat. I do have a plug that is only about 6 in. long and for the life of me I see no place for it to plug in at (it has to be with in the 6in radius but nothing there) It seems dirty all over so not sure it was plugged into anything, however looking at the metal tabs they look like they had been plugged into something. I am attaching a picture. it has a light blue wire and larger r/w wire and a larger b/w wire. This i my last attempt with this. He will get put on a train and sent home and when he can afford it I will put it on a trailer and take to some who cares I'm about done. i hope you got picture. Oh the plug is located on the passenger side, it looks like it would barely reach where the harness goes through the firewall to the pcm.
