1992 Cadillac STS 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

my car wont shift out of 1st gear and it says its overheating but the fluids arent hot?

You might have two problems. Does it show overheating after driving the car with only first gear? Is a check engine light on?, and how did you determine the fluids aren't hot?
