It is not the easiest task, it comes out the bottom first of all. Some means of gaining clearance are to remove the cooling fan(RH or passenger side). There is also the access panel on the lower core support, held with four 10mm bolts. The bracket that is bolted to the rear of the alternator usually comes with it. And I personally find it easier to remove the bracket that makes up the lower pivot of the alternator, and part of the A/C compressor mounting. Then you just twist it and route it down taking caution as to not gouge the radiator fins.
