Hi, (modulated displacement failure)... is this something that I can replace, repair... somewhat handy at things like this, or do I need to take it in.... or what other suggestions might there be...

any info is greatly appreciated...

Is that a 4,6,8? IE: variable displacement? If so Im amazed it took it this long to fail. There is a big connector on the transmission, try unplugging it, this makes it a V8 all the time, the only fix for that I have ever heard of, wrong execution of the right idea

Thanks.... yes it is that engine.. I disconnected the connections on the valve covers.... will that work just as well.... do not need the cruise control if that is an issue...
