Electrical problem
1991 Cadillac Fleetwood Automatic 80000 miles

My Fleetwood tail lights are out and the car keeps dinging like something was left on when they are. I inspected the fuse for the brake lights and it was blown. I replaced it and for a short time it would work (about a trip to the store) then when I would get in to drive home the dinging would start and the lights were out. I would have to replace the fuse again. Now as soon as I put the fuse in it blows when any lights are used. I inspected my wiring to the tail lights and see no sign of stress or damage that could cause a short. All other lights are fine and brake lights come on.

The switch at the brake pedal arm(stop light) may be the cause, or the wires to the switch, one of them may have rubbed bare over time and is shorting against a metal part.
