I purchased the Escalade at about 67k and changed the transmission fluid and filter 2-3 times. The fluid is clean, filled to the appropriate level and the vehicle seems to shift normally. However, a service engine soon light prompted me to scan the vehicle and my OBDII scanner indicated a DTC P1810 Transmission Fluid Pressure Manual Valve Position Switch Assembly Malfunction. What would you recommend to repair/correct this problem if we are planning to keep this vehicle for some time? Will a more sophisticated computer diagnostic further isolate the cause of the DTC? Would a replacement of the switch likely correct the problem? I read the procedure to change this part and it appears within my capabilities. I just don't want to change this project into a money pit if this will not correct the problem. Will issues with the valve body or TFP switch assembly contribute to further damage to the transmission? In other words, what risk does the DTC pose to the transmission/torque converter if I continue to drive the car?
Thank you for your help.
