1982 Cadillac El Dorado fuel pump location?

Recently bought a Cadillac Eldorado that we believe needs a new fuel pump. The fuel gage quit working along with the car dying. Does this sound accurate? Where would the fuel pump be located? Hopefully not in the tank. Thanks!
