Blower Motor Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

1.Remove the right side sound insulator. 2.Pull back the carpet near the blower motor. 3.Remove the IP compartment. 4.Remove the dash integration module from the bracket. 5.Remove the two rear dash integration module bracket fasteners. 6.Reposition the dash integration module bracket in order to remove the blower motor.

7.Disconnect the electrical connector (2) from the blower motor. 8.Remove the blower motor retaining fasteners (1). 9.Rotate and remove the blower motor from the vehicle. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

*Rotate the blower motor in order to install the blower motor into the housing. 1.Install the blower motor into the blower motor housing. 2.Ensure that the blower motor gasket is properly aligned. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. 3.Install the blower motor retaining screws (1). Tighten Tighten the screws to 1.4 N.m (12 lb in ). 4.Connect the electrical connector (2) to the blower motor.

5.Reposition the dash integration module bracket to its original position. 6.Install the 2 rear dash integration module bracket fasteners. 7.Install the dash integration module. 8.Install the IP compartment. 9.Reposition the carpet. 10.Install the right side sound insulator.

No matter how I twist or angle to get it in it seams impossible. Is there a good way you could describe how to do that.

Heater fan not blowing any air. Dealer says dash has to be pulled to get at it... big $$
any other approach or way to cut costs?

was the problem already diagnosed as a bad blower motor?? if so then yes you will have to go into the dash to replace it. if not then start diagnostic testing with checking out your fuses and blower motor relay.

it would be nice to have a lift. use a jack to support the engine sub frame then remove the 2 rear bolts in the engine sub frame.then u let the jack down and the motor will be out of the way.replace fan motor then jack the sub frame back up reinstall the bolts. please donate next time. gl

i ment to say 2 two front bolts. that lets the go foward to give you room 2 replacing the motor. sorry gl

To replace the heater blower motor module is it required to remove or loosen the dash board ?
We had the heater blower motor module replaced and a burnt connector terminal was repaired by a mechanic. When the car was returned to us the top corners of dash board ( both sides ) next to the windows at the were not seated properly. The two ends at the corners were loose, buckled and not connected to the car. The mechanic stated that it was that way before he repaired the car. We disagreed but he staed that he did not tamper with the dash board to replace the blower motor module .
Please advise

He is right all you do is remove silencer panel under dash and glove box

Does anyone have a magic formula for removing the blower motor? I know where it is and have access to it but I cannot get the thing out. What does it take to get the thing out ?

Remove insulation, glove box and DIM module and bracket that will give room for blower to come out.

I have done all that but it will not come out. I rotated it as much as I could which is about 10 degrees but it will not come out. Do you have to remove the rubber covered insulation under floor carpet? It seems to be binding on that rubber covered insulation.

I have the carpet pulled back and it still does not rotate enough to get it out. It hangs up on the rubber covered insulation under the carpet. This rubber covered insulation extends up the firewall. Does this black rubber covered insulation have to be removed? How many degrees does it have to be rotated and in what direction?

No rotate to move frame away from fire wall blower cage will hang up so tip motor away from firewall while rotating

I don't know what the problem is but I cannot get that thing out. I have been working for two days to try to get it out. I guess I will have to take it to the shop and pay big bucks to get it repaired.

2002 Cadillac Deville V8 Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Main/front Heater blower won't blow air, but rear blower works fine. Checked fuses and none seem blown. Don't know if it could be a blower motor or some solienod value not alllowing heater core to get warm, also tried swaping relays but nothing seems to make any difference

Cadillac Dealership took my 49.50 for Diagnosis and told me it was Blower Motor and estimated it to cost $707.23 for repair I declined as I don't have the that much money. When they returned my car the Blower and everything worked fine and is still working like new. Makes you wonder what was wrong and why they would say it was a blower motor when it in fact works like it was new.

My faith is shaken in Dealerships and there true purpose, is it to fix cars or make money from repairs that truly are unnessecary.

This Site even had a person ask if there was power to the blower motor, but no idea of where to look. That was the reason I asked the question if I knew everything I wouldn't be here asking for help would I.
A clear answer would tell the person where to look and how to test. Glad I didn't pay for this service as I can see it was no help.

I took the IP storage compartment out and everything the instructions call for . The blower housing will not turn enough or tilt enough to come out. If it can be taken out I don't know how that is accomplished. I have followed all instructions I can find on the internet and your instructions and still cannot take it out. I don't think that any of what you have sent has helped at all.

I have the same problem. Can not get the blower housing to drop low enoufg tp come out. The rubber backing and the firewall will not allow me to turn on drop the housing enough to come out. What a drag. I've unscrewed a lot of hard to get scnd up this wayrews and unpluged too many cables to end up unable to remove the blower. Going to be embarassed taking the car to the dealer this way. Hope they don't charge me more money.

Yes, it was a major PITA but I got it out and the new one in. Only have to remove the silencer panel but I pulled glove box as well. The trick was I had to cut some of the rubber insulation away on the back end. I used a utility knife. That is where it was hanging up. Once I did that I was able to squeeze it into place. The screw in the back is a pain as well. New one on amazon was $75.00. Plan on spending a good hour or two and a sore back afterwards.

As stated in previous responses, I would pull back the carpet and the insulation on the floor. That should give you enough room to install the motor housing.
