Transmission problem
1990 Cadillac Deville V8 Front Wheel Drive Automatic 170k miles

I have an automatic, 4.5L V8 in my 1990 Cadillac. Lately Ive been feeling alot of "turbulance" coming from the transmission or so I believe its the transmission. Just recently my car has been feeling like its struggling to change gears and has a weird transaction between gears like a bicycle chain coming of the sprocket when its loose. Also when Im driving and I stop, it also feels like the tranny is delayed when down shifting. Its kinda hard to explain without physically driving in it, so Im trying to be as detailed as possible. Basically I just want to know if getting a Transmission Flush could help or helps at all when trying to maintain the tranny, as well as making it last and perform better? Ive already put a good 20-25K miles on it this year and Im riding on a 170K tranny/ any reccomendations on getting a re-build kit or just getting a new tranny- kinda strapped for cash so Im curious if tranny flushing could help smooth my trannys retardiness. Thanks for your help

Hi there,

I feel that a transmission flush won't cure your problems, what you should do is go see a transmission specialist and get a test & report done on the trans, they will be able to recommend the best action to take,
