The carpet on the driver side rear floor gets soaking wet whenever I drive in the rain.

Hello,
This happens when the seal around the windshield is leaking, The windshield is glued in with silicone rubber so you might be able to reseal it from the outside but chances are you will need to have the windshield replaced for about $330.00 from a glass shop.
