2003 Cadillac CTS Intermitnent Blower

This car has the navigation system and automatic a/c/heater.

Recently, the blower would stop working intermittently for no reason. Sometimes in the morning it will work fine, but then later in the day it won't blow any air at all. It doesn't seem to make any difference what I set the A/C controls to....either on Auto or manual with the fan set on high, if its not blowing, that won't start it blowing.

I would like to have some idea of what might be causing this before I go to a mechanic.

Does it work sometimes during the day?

When it is working do all the blower fan speeds work okay?

Are you able to do any checks yourself?

I would like you to please go to Auto Zone (AZ) or O’Reilly’s (OR) and for FREE they can pull the codes to the car. Most important: Once they check your codes, if they find something and you don’t get it fixed and need to get back with us, please make sure you tell us exactly what the code was, number and all. Example, if the code was E0568 O2 Sensor bad. Then make sure you give us all of that. While there for FREE also they can bring their tester out and check your battery and alternator.

I would like to see if it has thrown any codes……..if they ask if the light is still on just tell them you say it come on and go off.

I think it is your blower motor but I will wait to hear back from you.

YES..IT WORKS AT RANDOM TIMES DURING THE DAY

When it is working do all the blower fan speeds work okay?

WHEN ITS WORKING, IT WORKS ON ALL A/C HEATER FUNCTIONS AT ALL SPEEDS

Are you able to do any checks yourself?

YES

I WENT TO AUTOZONE AND HAD THEM PULL THE CODES - THERE WERE NO CODES. INCIDENTALLY, THE BLOWER MOTOR WAS ON AND WORKING

I think it is your blower motor but I will wait to hear back from you.

Hello –

Thanks for the information.

Unless I am mistaken the manual shows you have a left and right blower motor.

It could be the blower motor relay located in under the hood, fuse compartment or the blower motor control processor or the blower motor or motors.

Again, it would be good to know if you have a left and right motor.

After you check to see if you have one or two motors, disconnect plug and put 12v and a ground to the two pins on the motor (s) and see if they spin freely.

Check with different blower settings for voltage at one or both plugs to see if information is coming from the processors.
