cranks but will not start even after charging battery

Hi there, I have the car listed above vtr, hdi. I had the car over three years and no problems until now. both of my side lights are faulting on the dash and not working. we had a cold spat this morning and now will not start even after charging. it cranks but will not fire up, but I have noticed while cranking the side lights flash on and off. Warnings appear on the dash economy mode or anti theft not working and then go off. I recently had to change fuses under the glove box on the passenger side to get the stereo and the cigarette lighter etc., working in the front as my four year old thought it would be a wise decision to put a five pence in the charging port which tripped out the side lights stereo etc. I am at a loss now so any help would be greatly appreciated.
