I'm having to refill the oil every 1,500km or so, less if I haven't been traveling as much. But I often travel a couple hundred km every few weeks, on top of my daily work travel in the city. There is an exhaust smell in the cabin, and my fuel economy is worse. I use synthetic 5W-30 oil.

Hi,

Is there any smoke from the exhaust? The idea that you smell it inside the vehicle could indicate there is a leak under the hood. Have you checked?

Also, if you have a plugged PCV system, that can do it as well. I attached a pic below showing the hose for the PCV. Carefully remove it and make sure it isn't plugged.

Let me know how much it is using and if there are any visible leaks both under the hood and under the vehicle.

Take care,

joe

Hi, sorry for the delay in replying I missed the email. There is no leaking at all, and no smoke from under the hood. The amount coming from the exhaust is normal for this time of year. I think your correct about the PCV, I'll need to take it to my mechanic to get it checked out, cause it's difficult to get to. Thanks for the help!

JACOBANDNICKOLAS is one of our best! Please let us know how it goes, If the oil is not leaking the engine has to be burning it. I would remove the spark plugs to look for one that is wet with oil, you may have an oil control ring that has failed or a broken compression ring. Please upload an image of the spark plugs so we can help you decide a particular cylinder if the PCV valve does not fix it.
