I changed plugs. They were covered with carbon. And drinks the fuel. Since I changed the plugs the car does run better once it is really warmed up. Still has black smoke especially when it first starts. I dont understand how when it warms up and seemingly is running smooth that it uses so much fuel? Where should I look next?

Any check engine light? How do the plug wires look. You might want to have the oxygen sensor checked also
