Knowing that freeon costs about as much as gold, I'm hoping there is something simple I could do, or something "minor" to be fixed.

Would the light come on simply because the anti freeze is low?

Does this model car have a "thermostat" that just needs to be changed? If so, where is it located? I could be imagining this, but I 'm thinking some cars have the thermostat in the radiator cap?????

If this approach fails, what's the best way to get this checked out? A chain repair shop, a local airconditioning shop? What?

Thank you!
