My son in law drives a 2002 Buick Rendevous, 3.4 L engine. Oops, he took it off the pavement and tore the bottom of the oil pan. We finally was able to get the old pan off, after much struggling as it was tweaked and had to be further broken to finally free it. But now we're stuck on how to get the new on in place. We've followed the advice from the Chilton's and still there's not enough room for it to fit back into place. It's just a very tight fit. We've raised the engine, removed the starter, the compressor for the air conditioning but still no luck. The end that has to slide up over the frame does not allow enough room. We've tried every angle possible for sliding it back up. The engine is raised as much as possible as the alternator is almost touching the firewall. Help!!

with the engine raised and supported you should remove both the passanger side cradle bolts and drop the cradle down on that side. In order for you to do this the front wheels will have to be off the ground aswell.

Hope ths helps...

I also had the same problem with the oil pan on a 2002 Rendezvous and i never guessed to lower the engine cradle on the right side. Thank you very much for the tip and the end of a long headache. Ready to try again. thanx again Cly.
