Hot & Sweaty!
My AC is completely dead, no lights on the dash board (just in the heater control area the rest is working). No fans, nothing. I checked real quick under the hood this morning and found the fuse box with a couple of large fuses (I am assuming they are fuses) marked cooling fans. Are these a typcial fuse that I can check with a continuity meter? Does it make sense that this would be the problem or does anyone have another idea as to what is wrong?

I assume when you say no fans you are talking about inside the vehicle. If so then the what you were looking at as far as cooling fans are the fans that cool the engine that are mounted on the Radiator. What you will need to look for as far as the fan inside the vehicle is a blower motor. Did you check the fuse block under the dash? You can check the A/C Compressure by looking at it before you start it up so you know what it looks like. Then Have someone start the vehicle with the A/C Off to begin with while you what the compressure. Then have them turn the A/C on. You should see the very front of the compressure engage and start spinning. If you notice the front part is starting and stopping every 3 - 5 or so seconds you are probably low on freon. Now the blower motor... look for a blower motor relay it is a square or rectangular box. There may be a regular fuse for it instead. There is also a blower motor resister that is located in the duct work under the passenger dash it looks like this....

Thanks, obxautomedic
I have a follow up though.

When I mentioned I had no power to the heatrer control area I meant nothing even lite up so I can't start or stop anything related to the heater or AC. Everything else works.

Yes I was refering to the blower motor when I mentioned I had no fans.

I did go back and check the fuse box inside the car per your suggestion and found all the fuses to be OK.

Any other suggestions?

I am better at some diagnostic with hands on than trying to explain. So, I have asked for some input from the other mods and techs.

Looks like there is another fuse block in the center console.Contains 2 fuses for the HVAC, one of them is for the control panel, it is 10 amp. Check that with atest light and get back, Oh and by the way, exactly which model is that ?( CX, CXL, or Ultra) And does it have automatic a/c

Found it and checked the fuse, it's OK.
The specific's on the Model is it is a CXL 6 cylinder and it does have the automatic A/C.

I fear the easy stuff is now checked, where can I go from here?

Now need to remove the control panel from the dash and verify that there is power at the following wires-
A11 and A12 on the connector,if you have power there and it doesnt work, the control head may have failed. check A10 to be sure it is a good ground too

Sorry I haven't got back, I was out of town. Thanks for the reply again but this one may be out of my area of competence so I think I'm going to have to call in the pro's.
