Engine problem
2004 Buick Rendezvous 6 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 62000 miles

My car starts fine, runs ok, until I get to 30 mph then engine gets very loud (like an airplane engine). It stays loud and even gets louder when car slows. The sound stops when I slow to stop at red light. Technician ran computer check and found no error codes. Sound seems to be getting louder daily. Car appears to have slowing acceleration.

Yes that is a very legitimate price for a head gasket repair. usually look around 2-3 grand!

The labor time on the V-8 for both heads is about 11 hours. The headset and bolts are around 400.00. Machine shop fees to test and shave heads is about 200. The means that the labor is about 1700.00. That would be about $155 and hour. 1998 V-8 are GM buick motor. Any small shop can do it.
