car wont fire fuel pump fuse keeps blowing

My 2000 Buick Regal, after sitting a week in the garage, won't fire. It turns over and it keeps blowing the fuel pump fuse. Mechanic told me it is probably not the pump but a mouse chewed on a wire. Trying to avoid towing into mechanic at $75. Any suggestions

generally, if a mouse chews a wire, it will result in an open circuit that won't cause a fuse to blow. It may need a pump after all............unless you can see some rubbed through wires under the hood.
