1998 Buick Regal Front Wheel Drive Automatic

the car starts but will not idle, acts like it not getting enough gas but if I hold my foot on the pedal, it keeps running

welcome to the forum, how long since a tune-up? I'd take the throttle-body off and clean it. Check the idle air system. Have the codes checked.
