1996 Buick Regal Replacing Water pump - I can't get the las

I finally figured it out! Here's what I had to do in order to get the last bolt out of the power steering:

- jack the car up and remove the tire (passenger side)
- Get the power steering pump pulley HOLE aligned so you can get the wrench onto the bottom bolt through the hole on the pulley (I did this from the bottom)
- from the top you can get the second and last bolt on the p/s pump once you get the pulley hole aligned as again
- the p/s pump drops down and you can get to the last bolt on the water pump
- remove the water pump (might need a little banging since it was probably sitting there for a while)
- Use a painter scrapper to scrap off the old gasket that is left on the water pump. Be careful to not scrap things you don't want to be scrapped off, like the edges of the water pump.
- put the new water pump in place (after placing the new gasket on it, of course)
- put all the screws back where they belong
- once the new water pump is assembled, get the power steering pump back on its place and tighten both bolts
- get the serpentine back on.
- Make sure everything is good to go
- Open a beer
- Now drink it and enjoy

There are two bolts on the power steering for this model and year, some of them have three (depending what year you car is). One bolt is at 12 o'clock and the other is at 6 o'clock.

Once you get it, it seems so simple.

How difficult was the water pump to replace? I have a 98 regal that the pump needs to be replaced. My son is going to attempt to replace it. How long did it take you to do the job?

It took me an hour and 24 minutes to do it today and I am an x-ray technician!!!!! A couple hints remove overflow tank because it is easy and will give you more room to work .... loosen waterpump bolts before removing serpentine belt.... and you can get power steering pump out of the way without taking wheell off....I did everything from the top...I also used sealant on the new gasket
