All of a sudden my transmission is slipping, the trans shop I took it to said it is going out. I had the fluid changed 2 years ago, filters, etc and it has been working just fine. I had a new starter put on in January and all of a sudden the transmissiion is not working? Could it be a converter, clogged filter? It goes into like first (D) and then starts slipping and if you can get it up to 42 it will shift as normal into what I call the driving gear. Can you help with an answer?

Barb,

The cheapest thing is to try to service it with a new filter. If that doesn't work, chances are the clutches are going bad in the low / reverse clutch pack and still good in the other. That could be why it slips when first starting then seems good in the upper gears. I wish I had a better answer for you.

Let me know if the service works.
