I replace the Alternator on this car 1 month ago. Eveything work fine until last week. It began giving symptom like the alternator is bad again... ticking sound when I tried to start the car. The car starts with not problem while getting a jump from another vehicle. However when I try to drive any distance it cuts off as if the battery is not staying charge. when I get a jump..it stats and run great for a while but again it seem the battery is not staying charge. Today I had the battery checked/charge and installed a new alternator. The car started and ran good. I cut it off for about an hour..went out and attempted to start it up...same problem. What else can this be? More info about the model of this vehicle..its a 3.8 liter Turbo fuel injected G/N

Hello,

You said you replaced Alternator ran it for a while and it done fine. Was that the only run you done with it? if so have you check to see if there is a draw on the battery. Check the link below for instruction on testing for a draw.

I had this problem and it was the positive battery cable shorting out internally. Once I replaced it all good.
