I have a 92 buick park ave , with a 3.8 sc motor and 80,000 miles. When i cold start the engine it immediatly revs to 2000 rpm for 10-15 minutes. At that point it slows to its normal idle speed. At this time it is fully warmed up. It then runs fine. If i shut the engine off after driving it and restart it after even 5 minutes, still fully at operating temperature, it will again rev to 2000 rpm and stay there for about 10 minutes , then slows down and runs fine. It uses no oil or coolant and has good power. I did change the idle valve and cleaned the air flow meter but was clean to start with. No change was realized from this. Do you have any idea how I can fix this problem. I will really appreciate any help. Thanks Jim

Have you scanned it for codes? Possibly the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) is malfunctioning.
