I am trying to change the water pump and serpentine belts on a 1998 Buick Park Ave Ultra.

Unfortunately, it looks like it is necessary to remove the engine mount in order to change the serpentine belts. Because the belts appear to be looped around the engine mount on the passenger side of the engine bay.

Is there a better way to do this?

Wrong. That's not my car. My car has a supercharger and the engine mount is bolted to the passenger side of the block. This is the diagram, unfortunately, the engine mount is not shown.

The diagrams on this page are incorrect for a 98 Park Ave. with a 3.8. You need to remove the two bolts from the motor mount bracket that attach to the motor below the coil packs. !st you need to loosed the nuts, then back out the studs. There are spacers behind the bracket. You do not need to take the bracket off or use a pulley puller on the power steering pump. There is plenty of room to slip the belt through between the block and the bracket. Make sure to use a jack under the motor & use a piece of plywood to prevent damage to your oil pan
