Engine Performance problem
1994 Buick Park Avenue 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic
I have recently purchased this vehicle and it ran well, approximately 28-30 MPG. Shortly after purchase, the exhaust broke in front of the catalytic converter. I operated the vehicle for approximately 3 weeks before repairs were made. The engine developed a miss and the MPG dropped to around 16. I welded pipe from the exhaust manifold to the muffler removing the cat. The vehicle was driven for approximately 3 months this way with the performance remaining the same. Last week I replaced the spark plugs, gapped at .060. I replaced the plug wires, fuel filter and oxygen sensor as well hoping to alleviate the skip and restore fuel mileage. The engine doesn't want to start now and if it does is getting around 9- 10 MPG. What is going on?
