My 91 Buick Park Avenue has been having engine difficulties. Sometimes when it is idling it will idle funny (up and down about 200rpm) around about 500rpm or lower, almost to the point where it stalls. Also, when I step on the peddle for a heavy take off the engine bogs down and seems to be knocking. This only happens at heavy take off or when it tries to shift into a lower gear going up a big hill.

Inspect and test all the following listed below:

Oxygen sensor
Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this).
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)
Dirty or worn spark plugs
Bad plug wires
Weak ignition coil
Cap and rotor

Note:If it doesn't apply disregard.
