I have a 92 Rodeo with the GM 3.1 V6, manual trans. The engine has 205,000 miles on it and is dying a slow death. My question is this: What engines will swap right in place of the tired 3.1 GM?
I know the 3.4L GM will swap right in, but they are impossible to find, and cost more than the same weight in gold. I have heard rumors of the 3.8L/4.1L GM Buick V6's being able to be swapped in place, but I dont see how the 90 deg V6 can fit in place of the 60 deg V6.
Are there any other GM engines that will just drop in place? ie motor mounts fitting and no modifications needed to the frame for the swap.
I really dont want to reuse the 3.1L, it is too under powered for my application. I also hate the Isuzu 3.2L that came out the following year so thats a no-go.
