speedometer gauge

my speedometer gauge has stopped working - at park, it registers 40mph. We have had a lot of slushy snow, etc. Is this a major problem to fix?

hi sue. well prob not a big problem. sounds like a speed sensor has failed. this sensor is a external sensor on your transmission. pretty simple to change and the part will be around 70.00.another possibility is the cluster in the dash has a prob.but the speed sensor has to be ruled out first. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.
