Shaking while driving at 70 MPH

Car shakes at 70 MPH. Once above 75 the shaking pretty much stops. This shaking is the entire car, not in the steering wheel. Everyone in the car feels it, change in the change holder shakes. Have had tires replaced, have had the struts replaced. When at 70 put into nuetral and still shakes.

This has been going on for several years and I have had alignments done. I assume ball joints and CV joints are the same thing. Every thing I have read points me to these.

Based on this info, the likely issue is a wheel imbalance or one of the wheels has excessive runout.

Normally a wheel balance due to a tire or bent wheel will stop after a certain speed is reached. So if you are not feeling it in the steering wheel then I suspect this is a rear tire issue. We need to measure runout on the hub and rotor to find out if it is out of spec.

As for the difference between the ball joints and CV axle, they are not the same. The CV axle is in the front on front wheel drive or 4WD vehicles.

This is what connects the transmission to the wheel and allows it to turn. It is also used on independent rear suspension.
