ABS light after replacement & cruise

Take it back to Midas and have it repaired, probably a loose wheel sensor.

ABS error will disable cruise.

ABS sets a "C" chassis code, which autoparts stores cannot read.

midas did rehook the abs line on the wheel. cruise is still not working.
should i take battery cables off and reset codes to reset the cruise?

Have Midas fix what they neglected. If cruise was working when you brought it in, have them read PCM codes for a cruise error.

finally got back to midas.
on the cruise, they said the "Transmission is in Safetly Limp Mode" and the cruise will not operate in this mode.

they suggested going to a transmission shop.
is this the best option?
or is there a simpler option?

they also reseated the brake pads because i was getting a noise like an echo insde a tin can when i was braking.

I would take to dealer or trusted trans shop and see what Midas did to trans. Have it repaired and present them with bill.

still doing the loud noise in the back.
they adjusted the pads last week.
then it starting making a different noise.

took it in this morning...
the back noise is rear caliper is too loose to adjust and messed up the rotor.

the front noise is the tie rod going and a loose wheel bearing...

i reset the codes by taking the positive cable off saturday and the cruise worked briefly...
so as soon as all the brake and wheels are taken care of i'll do the battery cable again and see if that reset holds....

ok went to two transmission stores yesterday.

1st ran codes -- said Solonoid 1-2 code was on, needed to replace Solonoid for $500 and THEN figure out what else was wrong.

I took my car to Aamaco -- sane code came up for them , but they added while looking through the code machine, the solonoids were working and the gears actually engaging WHEN the Limp mode was off... so they asked permission to do an internal inspection, taking the drop pan off and loooking further that way....there was clutch material and clutch bands littering the bottom of the pan...so they wanted to do a rebuild, verifying that the hard core items were not damaged and cleaning the insides and off course replacing all the 'soft core' stuff. he told me that other cars it is normally a 12-13 hour job, but the buick is an 18-19 hour job....

the bad part: 2300 + tax, 2500 + tax if the torque converter needs replaced (but he did n't think it needed replacing)

i checked another shop and they wanted 1800 for it, but they couldn't give me a nationwide warranty as they were a local shop...

If problem did not exist before taking to Midas, then it is logical to assume Midas did something or failed to do something.

It is beyond coincedence that the trans problem would suddenly appear after a brake job.

picked up the car...
aamco said had to replace the torque convertor too... it was too badly damaged by the clutch material floating around in there....

so now i'm in the process of collecting this all to present to Midas...
which level of Midas should I use?
the local office where i had the work done?
the district office?

i contacted Midas's corporate office online and gave the whole explanation and listed what i wanted refunded to me.

the transmission job: $2300.00
the car rental/deposit: 300.80
the lifetime warranty for the transmission (since Midas offers lifetime warranties on all their work):
850.00
the work done on 6/14/10 at their shop (since there should have been no way the brakes burn up in 19 days if they had all been installed properly):
632.02
total $4082.82

Am I being unreasonable in asking for all that?
I hope not.
I'll settle for everything without the 6/14/10 work as a minimum though.

The corporate office is the place to go, although they will probably settle without admitting any neglegence.

Also try the local news "investgative reporter", corporations DO NOT like bad press.

I received a politely worded email shortly after submitting that request. They referred it back to the local franchise, and said I should hear from them within 3 business days.

I have a case number assigned to this and a direct number to contact them if there is anything further.

2000 buicck lesabre traction control light on and abs light on, i was told if i get the abs light problem fixed that the traction control light will go out, is this true or false

The two systems work together, so there is a good chance that will happen.

abs light comes on, while driving. goes off when engine is shut down. will come back on again, after a few miles driven...

You can have the computer scanned for codes. A part store will do this for free, but most of their scanners aren't capable of reading ABS codes. If you can't find a parts store, take it to a shop and pay to have it scanned. Then once you get the codes, and if you want to do the work yourself to save money, send me the codes and I"ll walk you through it.
