when I put on the brakes at higher speeds the front end and steering wheel shake and shimmy real bad.

Warped brake rotors. Pull your front brake rotors and have them turned at a machine shop or Checker O'Reilly stores. They have a brake lathe. If the rotors are too close for them to turn, you may need to get new ones.
