I have a 1998 lesabre limited, my problem is that when I drive the car goes into gear just fine then when i go to accel the rpm's go upand the car goes but it feels like its slipping. it goes into gear just fine and drives perfect but only after i stop then start to go it does this. it also does this after higway driving. it drives perfect on the higway no hard shifting no hesitation to go into when i go from park to drive. also after I drive and stop the car wants to jump foreward as if im pressing on the gas but im not what can this be. I am guessing something computer related.

First, check the basics. Make sure the trans fluid is full. If it is, make sure it is clean and doesn't have a burnt smell.

If all is well there, my concern is that you have a clutch pack in the transmission that is bad and slipping. Has the check engine light ever come on?

Let me know.

yes, and i took it to the auto parts store for a qucik check and it said it was a bad throttle position senson and i replaced it but didnt do a thing. some days it drives perfect and others it acts up. would what you said cause the car to surge like im on the gas a bit but im not after highway driving. then if i put it in N then rev it a lil it stops doing that! plus this whole s;ipping issue. after it start to do the slipping the rpms will go up then it will go into gear then drive fine then it may not do that for an hour then do it after i stop at a light . also after the check engine light comes on. if i put gas in it 80% of the time the check engine goes out . i dont know if that has any effect on the check engine or if the computer is just shutting it off.

Something tells me the front pump isn't producing enough pressure for the trans to work properly until it is reved up. THen it works until you stop again. Then it drops and it starts over. I hate to say it, but I really feel you need to have it checked by a trans tech that can test how much pressure the pump is producing.

Let me know what you find, and thanks for using 2carpros.com
