I have a 1998 Buick Lesabre I just bought with minor front end damage as shown in picture. I think this is the root of the problem but dont really know how to confirm.

The tail lights and parking lights were not working. The hazards, brakes and turn signals work fine though.

I checked the fuses and the fuse for them was blown (listed as fuse 8C), I proceeded to change the fuse and start the car and the lights worked until I shut it off and restarted it. The fuse was blown again.

Im pretty sure it is related to the damaged parking light. As of now I cannot afford to fix the front end but figure I can somehow cap the wire so it stops shorting and causing the fuse to blow. I dont even know if the bulb is still in there but plan on getting under there and looking tomorrow. What course of action can I take to correct this until I can fix the front end damage.

EDIT: I dont know if the donation I made is sufficient if not please let me know.

It is likley that a wire at the damaged front light is the root cause. Inspect all wires there. Check ground wire for damage.

You mean the parking light, correct?

EDIT: Could it be as simple as the broken bulb touching some metal?

I removed it and put some electrical tape over the socket it was in. It seems OK for now as I started the car a few times and turned the lights on and off a bunch of times. Could it really be that simple? Also thank you for the quick response. EDIT: It will not let me give positive feedback, it says I dont have points.
