Jump 5 to 6 on diagnostic connector no flashes. Any suggestions?

If that is a 16 pin datalink connector, a jumper wire won't work. At the least, you need an obd2 code reader, plugs into the datalink connector. Your local autostore should sell an obd2 code reader. Some national brand autostores will check codes for free.

it is a 16 pin Ben to autozone and 2 other auto parts stores all scans come up no data connection

Pin 16 should be voltage, any voltage on that pin? If no voltage, the datalink connector wont work.

Are you having any driveability issues with vehicle?

yes the idols is up to 2500 rpm does at start up if I pull connectionconnection to IAc Idol drops down

Did you clean the throttle-body and idle air control? What about pin 16 on the datalink connector, use a testlite, any voltage?

This vehicle is OBD1 COMPLIANT, but it has an OBD2 connector. Is there a scanner I could buy for what has been suggested as obd1.5? How about jumping pins to get the mil to flash?

Just to add, You can check resistance across A & B terminals, then C & D terminals, 40--80 ohms. If not as specified replace iac.

Check resistance between B & C, then A & D terminals, infinite resistance, If not replace iac.

It sounds to me like the iac is working correctly. With engine idling, block off the mouth of throttle-body, does it kill the engine?

That is obd1 certified and it has a 16 pin connector that only 6 pins are used and it has the same shape as the obd2 connectors but obd2 code readers do not work.


that takes a special adapter and scanner is only way to read codes if it has 12 pins as it should cross A&B with paper clip watch engine light flash with key on count flashes.

These take a unique scanner/software to read. They are partially OBD1 & OBD2, oddballs.

What problem are you having?

Engine running rough, check engine light on,has an obd2 connector cannot hook up.

You are in a transition year. You have an OBD2 connector but and OBD1 system. The only thing that will access that one is a professional scan tool.
