1993 Buick Lesabre

The other day, my car wouldn't start. I was havin problems with my fuel gage, so i assumed it was out of gas. After adding gas to it, the car started and i filled the tank. However the next day, it wouldn't start again. Once again I added gas to the car and it started. The tank was still full from the night before. Im sure it was because i added gas until it came back out. Now, this is a constant problem. Either the car won't start until I fill the tank completly, or it will die as I'm driving down the road. I've changed the fuel filter, fuel pump, sending unit and the fuel relay fuse, all brand new, but the problem persists. Anyone with information on what could be the problem, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Hello,

Does your Fuel Gauge Work? If not the sending unit is bad and you may need to replace it. It is located in the tank. Another possibility is the Fuel Cap is bad, to test this just leave fuel cap loose and see what happens.

The fuel cap vents the tank the way it works is the tank creates a vacuum as fuel is consumed and once is reaches a certain pressure the cap allows air into the tank. And if the cap is not venting the tank the vacuum gets so great that the fuel pump cannot pump anymore fuel, and the vehicle shuts down from lack of fuel.
