Could corroded positive battery cables be related to any of these problems? I recently replaced the stripped terminal post bolt when it wouldn't start and that solved the starting problem, but it appeared that there was corrosion on the cables. Should I start with replacing those before taking it into a shop?

I'd clean the battery cables/wires on both ends, make sure everything is clean and tight. You might peal the insulation back a bit on the cable/s, see if there is any corrosion, if there is, replace the cables.

Sometimes with multiple electrical problems, if you trouble-shoot one circuit and fix, it may fix several other problems.
